Many people need to rent a property before they are able to build their own. And apart from the rental amount, there might be other fees to pay in the process of renting an apartment.

What are the other fees that I might have to pay for a rental property apart from the rent?

If you rent an apartment through an agent, you have to pay a commission to the agent. Other than that, you need to pay one month's rental as deposit, and two months' rental in advance. The deposit will be repaid to you when your contract expires.

If you got the rental property through an agent, you will also have to pay an agent fee, and also caution fee as well.
Is it the potential tenant that pays all the agent fees? I thought it is meant to be split between the potential tenant and the property owner?

I don't know if you're talking about something that concerns you or in general, however I can tell you that the tenant, in addition to the monthly fee to be paid to the landlord, must face other expenses such as: condominium administration, waste tax, payment of household utilities and other miscellaneous and sundry. These expenses can be more or less expensive, depending on the value of the property you are going to occupy. However, keep in mind that I'm talking to you based on the laws of my country which is ITALY.

I don't know the full details though, but from what i have seen, the tenant is usually the one who pays the fee.
