Ethereum has declined almost 50% in recent times. And many people are willing to dump it forever. Some people still believe in it though simply because it is number 2 coin after bitcoin.

Is Eth's position as second mean give us leverage to look beyond its poor performance and still believe in it?
 
That's right, based on marketcap ETH is second after Bitcoin, but personally I avoid having Ether because of the high gas fee for each transaction it takes at least 21 thousand gas units, so Ether is not suitable for retail investors, who only make small transactions.
