Can one make money from featured posting on a site?

For some sites, they charge people to have their posts on their site. That's for established sites that have audience. Do you think it is a viable way to monetize a site by making people pay for featured or guest posting?

I think that is very viable. Most users would like visiting sites that are very active and are being flooded by visitors.

If your site is big, you can of course do that but for most people that is not possible because of small traffic.
