Almost all of social medias like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Kik, YouTube, Snapchat, and others have the minimum age restriction of 13 to open account on them, and that is what they states on their rules, but do you think it is working? now a days anyone can create a social media and all they need is phone number or email account after that they can open any social medias, and those under age children if they manage to create email account then they can create any social medias, so which technique is used to restrict kids under 13 on social media?

I wouldn't totally say it works, I'm not underaged and I wouldn't know what social media has been doing concerrnong kids having accounts on their platform. However, I think despite being difficult to detect this without proper kyc, the algorithm can still detect this, but it's left to such social media to take action by restricting such account or not. Lastly, I think social platforms ad this to there Tand C or guidelines just to protect their image Incase of any anomalous.
My little niece have a tiktok account and she is still a 10 years old kid, but she managed to open tiktok by phone number, i don't know why the age restriction policy of those social medias are low.

Social media platforms have set up terms and rules and guidelines for joining them. They have age restrictions. They have all these to just be safe and not to fall into any legal soup. But then all the responsibilities fall on the shoulders of users who are joining it. You have to agree to their terms and conditions to join them. Users keep violating the rules and it's tough to catch them

The only point where age restrictions on social media would make sense would be when social media sites start requiring KYC to be on boarded. Apart from that, the age restrictions on social media is nothing short of a jamboree.

You are absolutely right; the only way the age restriction works is when there are KYC verifications.

Personally it does not work cause today we have a lot of under age children on social media today. It would be pretty hard to be able to truly restrict under age persons, unless social media would start asking for identity cards before registering like a KYC system.

This does not work at all, because they ask to enter their date of birth, but everyone can enter any data, even a child can indicate that he is 18 and no one will check it, because it is not profitable for social networks to lose users, but they must comply with these prohibitions
