Free marketring: Does it really work?

There are different ways to market your product, service or business for free. However, the main question is does it work? I mean do you actually manage to get conversion through free marketing. For example, you can do free marketing on social media, when you do marketing without spending a dime on social media, do you actually get a conversion, are you able to generate sales?

I have done free marketing several times,and from my experience it does work but the results you get can never be compared to what you get from paid marketing

Marketing without spending a dime on social media is for broke people and those how doesn't have money. It is not for people how wants to generate sales for example.
