AntiTrust Regulations

In US, I have heard there are Antitrust regulation laws that promote fair competition in markets, preventing monopolies and anti-competitive practices. They maintain balanced business environment and protect consumers from price-fixing and other manipulative practices.
I expect other countries have them too in their own capacity. But do you think these laws are followed strictly ?

My country doesn't have Anti Trust regulation of any kind. The government even creates monopolies for their cronies to get rich.
