Delayed salary: How do you cope?

There are sometimes that an organization can delay the salaries of workers for about a week before they can pay. It can be because of one factor or the other.

As an employee, how would you cope to survive when salaries are being slightly delayed? What options are available to you?

Because the salary is automatically paid through a bank account, I have never experienced a delay in receiving my salary, if it does happen, then I can at least use emergency funds, sell assets or investment instruments and borrow money from parents, siblings.
