FEATURE CHANGE VOTING

Dear Discussion Bucks members,

We would like to address a recent development regarding our post rating feature. You may already be aware that we have temporarily disabled this feature, which was initially designed to help distinguish high- and low-quality content. It also played a crucial role in determining tier promotions, which in turn affected pay rates for thread and post contributions.

However, it has come to our attention that the rating system has been subject to misuse. Some users have treated it as a simple reaction button, while others have rated acquaintances with five stars, even when their content didn't merit such high ratings.

Given this situation, we believe it's time to make a decision, and we want your input. Please participate in the poll below:

Option 1: Should we continue with the rating system?

Option 2: Should we base tier progression solely on overall post counts?

Your vote matters, and the option that receives the most support will be promptly implemented. We kindly request your prompt participation, as we intend to make a decision today. Thank you for your engagement and commitment to our community.

If you base it on the sheer number of posts, it will unleash a flood of worthless nonesense posts made just for the pennies (like so many other PTP Forums now.

This option would come with us putting together a moderation team to review threads/posts on a daily basis to ensure high quality content. This could also potentially require a word count per post. We will take measures to ensure that low-quality posts are removed.

If you add to that with sentances to Junk Post Jail or some kind of punishment for junk posting, then the member to member rank would be much like the Reputation system on Forum Coin, right?

What I like with their system is it's a one value upvote with an option to add a comment and send it to the original poster. I would like to see that carried one step further and make the comment mandatory. I mean how much meaning does a blank upvote/downvote have without a reason for giving it?

I think a word count is important, in addition to the supervision of a moderation team since a long post does not imply that it is a quality post, since, like in so many other PTP forums, people will comment over and over again in the same thread on the same things simply for the economic benefit., I also vote for the discontinuation of the rating system.

Instead of user rating, I think the staff should decide which user should be promoted to a higher level.
I agree with you, because fellow members' assessments are often not objective but subjective. Apart from that, giving bad ratings to your own friends can damage the quality of your friendship.

I think that there might be other ways to approach the subject. I know if you use the user promotions admin function, it could be used to define specific ratings that gives the tier increase. Granted, it has to be tinkered with, so you don't do it solely on point count and quality point count.
