Is it mandatory for a business to give discounts for bulk purchases?

Most businesses always give special discounts to customers that purchase in bulk. These discounts are kind of incentives to make the customer come back to patronize the business.

But can a business decide not to give discounts to customers that buy in bulk?

It is not mandatory for a business to offer discounts to customers no matter the situation. It is just a way of appreciating the customer if you do so.

I think it is a compulsory thing to do. I mean what then is the essence of bulk buying if not to get discounts off your bulk buys
