Have you ever migrated to a new server? What was your experience like? Was it smooth or was it troublesome? Did you encounter any issues, what kind of issues did you encounter? How long was your website down before it was up during the migration process? Did you do it yourself or hired someone to do it for you? Well, I have not done for my website but I have done for my clients.
 
I didn’t have any downtime when I migrated to my new server, but I did put my forum under maintenance while I was backing up all the files and database.

It was a smooth process though. I had my new host transfer everything over via Cpanel.

This is something I want to learn, I have not been able to transfer website directly through Cpanel through remote transfer option. I always move database manually.
 
You need do it at night so clients doesn't see this in the morning and crucial task.
You can do it during the morning or at night as long as you transfer everything from cpanel to cpanel. There won’t be any downtime.
